What materials are your jewelry made from?
Most of our jewelry is made with real gold or rhodium plating over brass or alloy bases. Our sterling silver pieces are made from 925 sterling silver, and some styles are also finished with rhodium plating. We also have selected styles made with stainless steel.
These are among the most common materials used in fashion jewelry, offering a balance of beauty, durability, and affordability.
Stainless steel is affordable — why not use it for all jewelry?
Stainless steel is affordable and durable, and works well for simple everyday designs. However, it is harder to shape, so it is not suitable for more detailed or delicate jewelry styles.
That’s why brass is more commonly used in fashion jewelry. It is not about price, but about material hardness and how well it can be formed into detailed designs.
What is rhodium plating?
Rhodium plating is a thin layer of rhodium, a precious metal, applied over other metals such as silver, stainless steel, brass, or alloy to create a bright white, platinum-like shine.
Why use rhodium plating on silver-tone jewelry?
It helps improve durability, enhance brightness, and protect jewelry from oxidation or fading. Rhodium plating is generally more expensive and more durable than silver plating.
Even many luxury fashion jewelry brands use rhodium plating on the surface to maintain shine and help prevent oxidation.
In fact, most bright, polished sterling silver jewelry you see also has a rhodium plating layer to enhance its appearance and prevent tarnishing.
Will the jewelry tarnish?
No, it will not easily fade under normal wear, but because it is a plated surface over metal, it may gradually show signs of wear over time with frequent use.
Contact with sweat, water, shampoo, perfume, and other chemicals can slowly affect the plating and may lead to fading or oxidation.
Even solid gold or sterling silver jewelry can also tarnish or darken over time with regular wear.
To help extend the lifespan of your jewelry, we recommend:
- Avoiding water, sweat, and chemicals
- Removing jewelry before bathing or swimming
- Wiping it gently after wearing
- Storing it in a dry, sealed container
Is the jewelry nickel free?
Yes, most of our jewelry is designed to be nickel free, as it is finished with a layer of gold or rhodium plating to help reduce direct contact with the base metal.
However, with time and regular wear, and with exposure to sweat, perfume, shampoo, and other chemicals, the plating layer may gradually wear down. In addition, different factories may apply plating with varying thickness and durability, which can result in different levels of wear resistance.
If you have very sensitive skin or a strong nickel allergy, we recommend choosing 925 sterling silver or stainless steel pieces, which are generally more suitable for sensitive wear.
Please also note that on the market, some products labeled as “sterling silver” may actually be silver-plated rather than solid 925 sterling silver, which may still cause skin sensitivity or allergic reactions in some cases. We recommend always checking material details carefully when choosing jewelry for sensitive skin.
What are your earring posts made of?
Most of our earrings use 925 sterling silver posts, regardless of the main body material. This is to help reduce the risk of skin irritation and make them more suitable for sensitive ears.
How should I choose earrings based on sensitivity?
If you do not have sensitive ears, you can generally try earrings across all price ranges (starting from around $2), depending on your preference.
If you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergic reactions, we recommend choosing:
- Higher-priced earrings (usually above $10), which typically use better-quality materials and plating
- Or solid 925 sterling silver earrings, which are more suitable for sensitive wear
